The intentional design of our learning environments and educational philosophies are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education. As such, we believe that all children are capable, competent and eager to learn. Children will always seek out connections that are personal and meaningful to them. This is learned through play, small group projects, dialogue and reflection with peers and adults, documentation of big ideas, and ample time for exploration.
Our Professional Learning Community, inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy of education and social constructivism, supports ongoing teacher education by meeting regularly to discuss the scaffolding, emerging big ideas and ordinary moments, and deepening curriculum within our community of learners.
In addition, Seedlings educators are provided with an annual two-week workshop supported by leaders in the field of early education. Included in these experiences are topics such as current brain research data, environmental design, outdoor classroom, foundational values, team building concepts, 21 century learning principles.
