Ty Torres

Ty Torres has been on the faculty at Saddleback College since 2009. His current teaching responsibilities at Saddleback include SP1 (Communication Fundamentals) and SP 5 (Interpersonal Communication). Ty is also currently teaching at Fullerton College. Prior to moving to California, Ty was a Lecturer of Speech Communication at Clark Atlanta University (one of Atlanta’s Historically Black Colleges) where he taught Fundamentals of Speech, Intercultural Communication, Rhetoric of Persuasion, Business and Professional Speech, Public Address, and Communication Theory courses. He was also was the Coordinator of the Fundamentals of Speech Program and served on the Curriculum Development Committee for the Division.

In addition to his faculty position at CAU, Ty also was an Adjunct Professor at Georgia State University when he taught Media Ethics, Media and Society, Public Communication, Human Communication and Professional & Business Communication courses. He served as the only non-faculty advisor for Independent Study Program for GSU’s Department of Communication and presented Media Literacy Workshops for inner-city high school Communication Magnet Program students. Ty graduated with a BA in Speech Communication from Penn State University and a MA in Communication and Information Studies from Rutgers University.

In addition to teaching, Ty has also been a freelance writer for clients including Coca-Cola, Honda International, Lilly Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson, Mercedes Benz, Blockbuster Entertainment, Delta, The Southern Company and The American Red Cross.
